Are you receiving food stamps you are eligible. Does the house need work on it. Call this number get an application for the weatherization prgm 757 858 1396. The is a program whether you rent or own. Have you contacted any service programs in your area. If you sons are working you can include their income on any loan application. Yes, There a hundreds of foreclosures unfortunately I wish I had good credit that would something I would take advantage of. Sorry I am typing fast I need to get out of the house and get to my parents my dad is dying so I stay there on weekend to help out. Can't talk to you on phone right now minutes are low. Feel free to email me at thompsonssignings @gmail.com. I do check it everyother day or so. Sometimes everyday but not when I am at my parents... I am also fighting for my disability at this time. If you are currently renting apply for apts base on income that you qualify for. I know the list is long but apply for section 8 and there is also a program I think it is section 237...google it. I do not know much about it but it is similiar My girlfriends daughter had it after she graduated from college I remember her rent was 7.00 a month. because it is base on income and she none at the time. She is doing very well now make big bucks god bless her heart. Anyway I hope this help...My name is Connie Good luck to you and God Bless.

in response to Halle...   How do yo get all that, especially medicare and medicaid? I am on ssdi and they're saying that I have to pay $99.00 a month just for medicare part B. The only medicaid I qualify for is a medical needy program which has a $600.00 deductible that I have to meet every two months before it even kicks in: my dr bills are only about half that and my medication costs about $100.00 per month. I only get $835.00 a month from ssdi and I live in Iowa. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated because it is very hard to live on what I have left after all I have to pay out.....I would love to be able to get my own home too..

in response to Halle...   Wow. I live in Tx and get ssdi. I was a nurse for 20 years and now get around 1100 a month. I found a house with an attached apt and a small house in the back that I could rent but I have to get financing first. Any idea where I could get help to get the financing. I do not qualify for food stamps or public assistance as I have no children that live att home. I want this house so bad. It will give me a little financial freedom and also a sense of purpose. I need that back in my life.

in response to jcincontrol7...   Hello, Im very interested in your post. I am a single mother of three. I have raised my children and struggled over the past 14 years on SSI. Three years ago the home that we rented burnt down. My parents began helping me pay a monthly rent payment of $875. My health has gotten worse and that along with the financial strain has brought my sons back to attend a college closer to home. I was just informed that my parents are going to retire and will no longer be able to help my family finanially. Due to the fact that they want to travel and build a new home of their own. My sons both work and attend a community college. I have to move as there is no way I can keep the rent opligation up aqws well as the utilities and feed my family. The electric alone has been running $500 a month. With the economy the way it is I am finding forclosures that would have my payments at $400 a month. By the way I live in Va also and would appreciate any help you can pass on to me! I am so desperate I need to figure this out and fast! Thank you in advance!

For those of you whom are seeking to purchase a home there are 1st time home buyer programs out there via HUD also there are grants..that are given to people who can afford the payments. Google Center for community developement in your area and see if anything comes up. There are step you must take and classes. Also for those who who to own there own business as well these are grants. I use to be a loan officer and I had a couple i think they had 2 or 3 kids. This program paid off their debt of 25k and got them into a home. THIS IS THE THING THEY DO NOT WANT YOU TO LOSE YOUR HOUSE MANY PEOPLE TRY TO REFINANCE IT MUST BE APPROVED BY THE PROGRAM. AND OF COURSE EVERY STATE IS DIFFERENT I AM IN VA. ALSO THE PERSON WHO STATED THEY ARE ON SSI FOR A MENTAL ILLNESS YOU HANG IN THERE I AM BI POLAR SO I DO UNDERSTAND.  in response to Halle...   Please tell me what it is called that I go about applying for, I only get 703 a month and I'm fully and completely disabled, and I can't cook or clean for myself. I have a 17 year old daughter who gets 189 a month, but she won't draw that anymore if she doesn't decide to go to college... I don't think they include her income anyway, I draw very little food stamps. I think about 134 or so... how do I get the assistance you receive how do I apply, please help me.

in response to britenewstart...   Hi, I also live in FL. I'm sorry for your situation. There are plenty of programs for people on SSI, and include any dependant children. You are eligable for so many benifits. I think I'd start with the Department of children and Families. There's usually one in every city. Check in the phone book under "State Government", or call infomation. I'm sure they'll help you with this whole mess. Lots of Luck & prayers! H.

in response to cjncy born...   You mentioned that your husband is a vet. You could start with them. You should all be eligible for Disability, which also pays funds to dependant children. I think there are many, many, benifits for a family in your situation. Also could try your local SS office for starts. And, get down on your knees and start praying for peace in your life. Best Wishes, H.

in response to anthoney...   I live in a government subsised apartment run by HUD. It is for people on disability or those who have little or no money to suport themselves. I get bennifits for EVERYTHING. If you're on SSDI (not SSI) you get free medicare and medicaid, free meals, from meals on wheels, free utilities, free transportation from local "med-taxi", or the public bus system, free phone from the government "Safe Link" program, food stamps (EBT card) every month, free mental health clinic, free t.v., internet services for around$12.00 a month, (through A.A.R.P.) (free or almost free) perscription drugs. I don't think there's much of anything that I have to pay for, except my car, which I hardley ever use. I get 780.00 a month (SSDI). So, if you make around that much, you should be elegible for all those too! Best Wishes to everybody. H.

in response to bandi1...   You have to atleast have some money of your own. I've tryed several times, and either I didn't have a down payment or they said that I didn't make enough money every month to pay for a mortage and up keep on a house. It sucks, but there's always a catch. Call your bank, (or any bank) and ask to speak to a loan officer. They should be able to steer you in the right direction. H.

in response to nohelpinsight...   Sounds like you're missing out on alot of bennifits. I'd try the Seviereville Housing Authority, first. Then the Department of Human Services, in your town , or state. Even speaking to someone at the Social Security office would help. There's alot of help for the disabled if you know where to look. Good Luck!!

in response to CATLUV...   they denied me for ebt/food help because i make $8.00 to much on my disability chk. and wont assist me in any other help. i been renting a trailer for 9 years in seviereville tn.@ $500.00 a month, my landlord decided to raise it up $150.00 more making it $650.00 total he has not done any updating nor has he ever had to fix anything in my trailer i've paid and done anything thats went bad here. he never said why he went up on the rent either. the trailer is around 16 years old and i just dont get it. wish i could find something cheaper but it's very hard here being in a tourist area. he knows he has us over a barrell. you mention going to the electric company for help with the power bill, i did not know that they had such a thing as disability discount to help out with the power bill. i thank you very much for mention that. i will try to do that tomorrow. i feel helpless being on disability because it's no where close to what you can make if you can work, but at the same time they think they giving you a bar of gold. disability dont come close to paying my bills. people that take advantage of people being on disablity should be ashame of themselves and our gov. should not let it happen. i feel my landlord went up on me because he knows im on disability now and he can get what he whats. again thank you very much. and good luck to anybody thats having a hard time getting help. god bless you all!!!

Hello, i am a 32 year old disabled girl, i get ssd and live in indiana. I have went to hud in my area, and they tell me i make too much for one person to recieve help from them, i make 1,500 a month, and i have always wanted to own my own home. I have went to mortage companies, and realtors and asked about programs, that would help me, and they all stare blanked faced and tell me they have no clue whom could help me. All my family has passed away, i have the money each month, to make the mortage, but not a lot for down payment, and my credit isnt the greatest. Can someone help me please, i have read all through here, and soooo many other places on the internet, and am getting so flustrated about this. All i want is what everyone has wanted since they were young...to be able to own their own home, i have been disabled most of my life, and that alone is hard enough to deal with. If anyone has any info, or ideas that could help me, please let me know, or email me at nakiebites@gmail.com. i would greatly appericate it

in response to MN homebuyer...   Go through your local HUD center. There is a little known fact of the section 8 housing voucher: it can also be used to PURCHASE a home.
Also Habitat for Humanity, Homesite, USDA Rural Development programs, NACA home ownership. The USDA programs are for low income folks.
As for the proof letter you need, look through his paperwork. he should have received a letter from SSI that stated he had qualified and under what conditions: if he is perm disabled, the letter will state this. You can also ask for a copy of the determination/evaluation paperwork. Did he get evaluated and declared disabled by a Dr of SSI's choosing? Then there is an Evaluation Recommendation letter in his SSI file somewhere and he has a right to a complete copy of his file including that letter. Go sit in the SSI office at 8 am and talk with someone...yes, I know, it's going to be about 4 hours of waiting, but if it gets you that house then it was worth the wait. That permanently disabled recommendation form the Dr is what those people are looking for. That with the original letter that stated his disability should do the trick. Good luck.
